Booking a hotel in Washington is very difficult when your age is between 18 to 20. Most hotels will not let you check in if you are not 21 years old. They do have age restrictions because they want to avoid additional hassle.

What’s the age requirements to get a hotel room in Washington?
The age of 18 is the legal age to rent a hotel room in Washington. But most of the hotels  have their own policy and where they set the minimum check-in age is 21.

I am 18 years old. Am I eligible to check into a hotel in Washington?
Yes, you are eligible to check into a hotel. There is no specific restriction but some locations where hotels don’t let you check in if you are below 21.

So why do some hotels have an age requirement of 21?
Mainly there are two reasons.

  1. They think people under 21 do not behave responsibly.
  2. Extremely difficult to enforce a contract to be held when the age is below 21.

Do I need a credit card to check in as an 18 year old?
Yes, most of the time they will ask for a credit card to check in.

Do I need to show I.D. to check in as an 18 year old?
Not all hotels ask for ID cards to check in but some hotels may ask for ID, Drivers License, or Passport during check in.
