Is it legal for an 18 year old to check into a hotel?
Yes it is legal for an 18 year old to check into a hotel. There is no specific restriction but some locations where hotels don’t let you check in if you are below 21.
So why do some hotels have an age requirement of 21?
Mainly there are two reasons.
- They think people under 21 do not behave responsibly.
- Extremely difficult to enforce a contract to be held when the age is below 21.
Do I need a credit card to check in as an 18 year old?
Yes, most of the time they will ask for a credit card to check in.
Do I need to show I.D. to check in as an 18 year old?
Not all hotels ask for ID cards to check in but some hotels may ask for ID, Drivers License, or Passport during check in.
